Women's Association and Stree Aiyog Celebrate Women's Day

The Women's association and  Stree Aiyog jointly celebrated International Women's Day on 8 th March 2026. 

The celebration began with a solemn Thanksgiving mass at 5.30 PM. The entire liturgy was led by the members of the associations.  To commemorate the day, a group picture was clicked after mass. The members present exchanged greetings of women's day.

The Eucharist celebration was followed by a get together at the Parish Basement Hall.

The MC for the programme, Mrs Felcy  Fernandes, requested the dignitaries to occupy the seats on the dias. The programme commenced with a prayer song led by Mrs Molly Suares and team. 

The President of Women's Association Mrs. Dora Dcunha,  welcomed  the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Steevan Nelson Peris, Vice President of PPC Mr. Denzil Fernandes, Secretary Mrs Clotilda Dsouza,  Coordinator of 21 Commisions Mrs. Pramila Furtado, Superior of St. Anns Convent  Sr. Juliana Tellis, Secretary of the Women's Association Mrs. Juliana Coelho, President of the stree ayog Mrs. Lydia Dcosta, Secretary Mrs. Jacintha Mascarenhas florally. The Dignitaries inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. 

The Secretary Mrs. Juliana Coelho presented the annual report. The Treasurer Mrs. Celine Correa briefed us about the accounts. 

Miss Primal furtado who won silver n bronze medals in the rifle shooting competition held by the Karnataka Olympics Association, Bangalore and State Rifle Association was one among the 80 competitors selected from Mangalore. She was felicitated for her achievements  by Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis and Rev. Fr. Steevan Nelson Peres. 

Fr.Joseph Martis in his Presidential address wished all those present a Happy  Women's day, and appreciated the dynamic participation of the women in the parish. He also  mentioned that most of the committees in the parish are under the able leadership of women. He also highlighted the prominence of women both in the Bible  and church.

This was followed by  a short entertainment programme by the association. A group song dedicated to women was sung by Mrs. Lydia Dcosta and team. Mrs Sabitha and team gave a dance performance that entertained everyone. Mrs Juliet Moras read a poem on womens day

The hall was filled with laughter with a Skit by Leera and team.
 
Mrs. Pramila Furtado conducted the Housie Housie and prizes were distributed to the winners of the game. 

Mrs. Felcy Fernandes compered the programme in a meticulous way. 

Mrs Pressy Pereira captured all the significant moments of the celebration on camera.

The entire programme sent across a message of how women are to be celebrated always.
