Anti Drug Month Awareness Campaign 2023

The Most Holy Redeemer Church in association with YSD, CLC, YCS, Family Commission & Youth Commission hosted an “ANTI-DRUG MONTH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN” on the 02nd & 03rd of September 2023. 
The Parish Priest Fr. Joseph Martis, Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Kevin D’Souza, Vice President Mrs. Sheela D’Souza, Secretary Mr. Denzil Pinto, Coordinator of the 21 Commissions Mr. Anil Patrao, Convenor of the Youth Commission Mr. Jeethan Castelino and the Presidents of YSD, CLC and YCS marked the inauguration of this crucial initiative by symbolically emptying a canister filled with an assortment of drugs into a dustbin, freeing a youth submerged within it.

The campaign then continued with a street play enacted by the members of the respective commission. The street play emphasized how a bright student got along with a wrong bunch of friends who were into drugs and how his academics and behaviour at home were affected. And how the non-supply of drugs lead  him to attempt suicide. The boy was saved by his dear friend who had earlier warned him to stay away from this addiction. The boy was later sent to counselling centers to get away from the addiction and become a good human again.

Fr. Joseph Martis addressed the gathering. He stated how addiction has destroyed young lives. He stressed the need to stay away from this deadly addiction and seek help when needed.

The campaign bearing the slogan “DON’T THROW YOUR LIFE AWAY & SAY NO TO DRUGS” will span the entire month, from September 1 to 30, spreading awareness to the parishioners.
