Good Friday Service Back
Good Friday Service
The Good Friday Service commenced at 5.30 PM at Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail. Rev. Fr. Austin Peres, Rev. Fr. Gerald Pinto along with Fr. Walter Pinto bowed down at the altar in reverence. The Gospel was then recited after which Rev. Fr. Austin reflected on the seven last words that Jesus said on the cross. He cited multiple instances from our daily lives where Jesus's virtues of kindness, humility, and forgiveness could be put to practice, exemplifying good Christian faith. This was followed by the Prayers of the Faithful. The Holy Cross was then venerated after which the Holy Eucharist was distributed to all the faithful present at the ceremony.
The age-old tradition of venerating the Body of Christ representing the end of his life among men and the Statue of Mother Mary took place. These statues were brought into the church with a small procession. The entire service was enhanced by the harmony that was set in by the Church Choir. All the Covid 19 precautionary norms were followed throughout.
