Teenagers of Derebail Parish Participate in a Two Day Camp
The Commission for Vocations of Derebail Parish, in association with Missionary Families of Christ (MFC) Youth, successfully organised a two day camp for the parish teenagers studying from Grade VI to IX, on 7th and 8th October 2022. The Parish Priest, Rev Fr Joseph Martis inaugurated the camp and wished every success to both formators and participants.
The intense programme commenced at 9 am on both days and went on till 5 pm with interactive talks on spiritual topics, like God’s love, Christ’s sacrifice, Role of the Holy Spirit and the Importance of the Eucharist. The participants were also encouraged to build on their relationship with their parents and family and were taught the importance of friendship and intimate relationships. They were also educated about the social media, the risks and challenges it places in front of them. Every talk culminated with a small group discussion on the topics . Between talks, there were group games, action songs and praise and worship sessions.
The second day was more intense with a session on inner healing, followed by examination of conscience and the sacrament of Reconciliation in the Church. The session aptly concluded with an hour long adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
Delicious lunch, morning and evening snacks and refreshments were as much enjoyed by the children, as they enjoyed their group activities.
A total of 50 teenagers participated and benefitted from this camp.
