Workshop on Kitchen and Terrace Gardening

Karnataka State Horticulture Department and The Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail had jointly organised a workshop on Terrace and Kitchen Gardening on 11th August 2019 at 10.30 am at Derebail Church Residence Hall. The members present for the programme were Sri. Sujit Kukkyan Secretary of Konchady Mitra Mandal,  Sri. Sundar Salian Trustee of Shri Vidya Vinayaka Yuvaka Mandali Haleangady ,Sri.Vasudev Shenava Kavoor Panchayat Member ,Rev Fr Peter Peres Parish Priest ,Rev Fr Gratian Alvares Residence Priest, Sri. Edward Coelho Parish Council Vice President and Smt .Lizzy Fernandes Secretary of Parish council Derebail. 

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the guest. Smt. Dora Dcunha,  Smt.Pramila Furtado and Smt. Juliana Coelho invoked God's presence through a prayer song. Rev Fr Austin Peter Peres welcomed the gathering. Sri.  Edward Coelho introduced the resource persons Sri Joe Pradeep Dsouza Senior Asstistant  Director Horticulture Department and Sri Krishappa Gowda Paddambailu from B.Ed Teacher's training institute of Mangalore.

The resource person in his talk highlighted few points on the uses of Terrance gardening ,the problems faced by the society ,proper use of available environment, environment protection ,health and hygiene , diseases and it's side effects and manure compost preparation were explained with the help of pictorial presentation.

Mr.Krishnappa Gowda explained practical way of working in the garden how to take care and love the plants, talk with plants, how to prepare the compost fertilizer, how to prepare spray by using Neem Oil,Juice & liquid soap with demonstration.

The vote of thanks was rendered by Smt. Lizzy Fernandes. Smt Felcy Lobo compered the programme.The programme concluded with a sumptuous lunch. Irrespective of cate and creed the participants from Derebail, Padil, Urwa, Angelore and  Haleangadi  particpated and the over all response was good. The programme was unique and successful.
