Homage to Mother Mary: Brigade Ward Celebrates Nativity

On 8 September every year, the Catholic Church celebrates the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary to mark the birthday of our Savior’s Mother.

The members of the Brigade ward celebrated the Nativity feast on 16 September 2023 to pay homage to Our Lady and celebrate the feast as one family in God’s presence.

The ward members assembled in the Brigade Pinnacle Clubhouse along with our parish priest, Fr. Joseph Martis. Mr. Jerald Coutinho was the emcee for the event. The celebration started with welcoming the statue of Infant Mary with flowers and placing her on a pedestal in front of the gathering. Following this, the gathering came together for a prayer session along with a flower tribute to Our Lady.

Fr. Joseph Martis led the celebration in prayer and welcomed the assembly. The little children of the ward performed an angelic dance for the audience after which, the Gurkar, Mr Eugene Rodrigues, delivered a welcome note. 

The event was followed by fun games for both the children and adults. Mr. Alfred D’costa delivered the Vote of Thanks.

Towards the end of the event, the ward Gurkar, Mr. Eugene, put the Blessed grain in milk and distributed it to the gathering. The food was blessed and the Grace before Meals was prayed. The members of the ward enjoyed a scrumptious meal prepared by the Brigade families.
